Mumbai - Mulund 25 June 2026 : With the arrival of the monsoon, Mumbaikars have finally found relief from the scorching heat. However, the rains have also exposed a serious safety concern near Mulund Railway Station. A termite-infested tree standing on railway land, barely 100 meters from the station, has become a potential hazard.
Near the Zaver Road-side exit of Mulund West Railway Station, within railway premises, stands a seemingly healthy green tree whose trunk has been completely hollowed out by termite infestation. Due to heavy rainfall, soil erosion, or strong winds, this weakened tree could collapse onto the railway tracks, disrupting rail services. Moreover, if it falls onto the adjacent buildings, it could result in significant damage to property and pose a threat to human lives.
As journalists and concerned citizens of Mulund, we are bringing this matter to the attention of both the Railway authorities and the Municipal Corporation. We hope that the concerned departments will treat this issue seriously and take appropriate preventive action to avoid any future mishap.
If, despite receiving this information, the authorities fail to act and an unfortunate accident occurs in the coming days, the responsibility will rest with both the Railway Administration and the Municipal Corporation for their inaction.
